The Daytona 500 is less than a month away, and NASCAR fans like myself are making predictions for how the season will go. I've done this since 2018, but never on this blog. That changes today. I present to you, my 25 NASCAR predictions for this season.
1. The new Camaro will be much more competitive than the old one.
2. Tyler Reddick, Christopher Bell, and Cole Custer will win 3 races combined.
3. Corey Lajoie will have more than 5 top tens.
4. A backmarker will get a top ten at a non plate track.
5. Chris Buescher will make the playoffs, but Ryan Newman will not.
6. Jimmie Johnson will win 3 races (Chicagoland, Kentucky, and Watkins Glen), and not only will make the playoffs, but will make the final 4. He will not win the championship.
7. William Byron gets his first win at one of the Pocono races.
8. Joey Logano will make the Championship 4, continuing a pattern of him making it in even years.
9. It will rain during the Watkins Glen cup race, and it will be fun to watch.
10. Kurt Busch will win multiple races, and one of them will be the Bristol night race.
11. Matt DiBenedetto will win the Daytona 500.
12. Erik Jones will have his breakout season.
13. Tony Stewart and Hailie Deegan will run the Eldora truck race.
14. Jeff Gordon will run the Martinsville truck race.
15. Chase Elliott will again miss the Championship 4.
16. Kyle Busch will end the season with more wins than anyone else.
17. Bubba Wallace wins Daytona in August. (Still getting used to that.)
18. The Brickyard 400 will actually be a good race.
19. The fall Talladega race winner will be disqualified, and Brendan Gaughan will be declared the new winner.
20. We will get another memeable quote from Dale Jr.
21. A driver will win their first race in a unique "Buescher cousins" like way.
22. Chase Elliott will win 3 races... again.
23. Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick, or Ryan Newman will announce retirement at the end of the 2021 season. My bet is it's Newman.
24. The Final 4 will be Joey Logano, Jimmie, Johnson Kyle Busch, and Martin Truex Jr.
25. Joey Logano will win the championship.
