Reviewing every Darlington Throwback (2023 edition)

"The next post will be sometime before next year." Aged well didn't it? It's that time of year again folks, I've returned from my hidey hole to review throwbacks again.

1- Ross Chastain: I love how they got UPS to come back. Trackhouse always seems to have good schemes.
Score: 10/10

4- Kevin Harvick: I have the same complaints about this as I did about Cindric's throwback from last year. The colors are too different for people to tell what this is a throwback to.
Score: 6/10

5- Kyle Larson: I love Tony Stewart throwbacks. Like Brad Keselowski's 2020 throwback, this one could work as the regular scheme.
Score: 9/10

6- Brad Keselowski: Castrol never had much of a presence in NASCAR until recently, so it's not surprising that they throw back to their old logo. I'm very conflicted here, I like the scheme, but I've said multiple times that I don't like throwbacks to old sponsor logos.
Score: 8/10

7- Corey Lajoie: LEGALIZE THREE DIGIT NUMBERS! Also, hold up, Corey's a third generation driver?
Score: 9/10

8- Kyle Busch: They pulled a Furniture Row 2018. Throwing back to earlier this year's win. Get it? That's funny.
Score: 5/10

9- Chase Elliott: Finally.
Score: 10/10

10- Aric Almirola: This is a surprising pick for Almirola. But it looks good.
Score: 10/10

12- Ryan Blaney: About time YRB threw it back to his dad.
Score: 10/10

14- Chase Briscoe: Throwing back to Smoke isn't surprising, however this is unexpected. I like seeing flames on a paint scheme.
Score: 10/10

20- Christopher Bell: It looks... off.
Score: 6/10

21- Harrison Burton: Is Harrison gonna throw back to his dad and no one else? Either way, the pinkish-purple looks nice.
Score: 9/10

22- Joey Logano: Now that's old school.
Score: 10/10

24- William Byron: It only makes sense to throw back to a 50th anniversary paint scheme for the 75th anniversary.
Score: 10/10

38- Todd Gilliland: Surprised to see an Elton Sawyer throwback.
Score: 9/10

41- Ryan Preece: This is even more surprising than Lajoie being a 3rd gen driver. A bit plain for my taste though.
Score: 7/10

42- Noah Gragson: I miss 2014.
Score: 10/10

43- Erik Jones: This is another plain one, but plain isn't bad.
Score: 8/10

47- Ricky Stenhouse Jr: I can't tell if this a Chastain copycat, or a regular Country Crock car. JTG has a mixed track record for throwbacks.
Score: 4/10

48- Alex Bowman: Throwing back to the spotter's driving career is always nice.
Score: 9/10

51- Ryan Newman: Welcome back, Rocket Man!
Score: 10/10

54- Ty Gibbs: This is a nice throwback. I love the colors of the Deadskins.
Score: 10/10

77- Ty Dillon: I never thought I'd ever see a throwback to the first winner of the Coca-Cola World 600.
Score: 5/10

78- BJ McLeod: I know it's not a throwback, but I have to comment on the Podcast Party Bus. It's beautiful, and I think it's so cool to see YouTubers sponsoring a car. Very Groovy.
Score: 10/10

99- Daniel Suarez: Gotta love a Ricky Rudd throwback. It's even got the right sponsor.
Score: 10/10

And that's it. I think you know the drill here, I promise to post before next year's throwback post, and then I don't. But I'll try... I think... maybe... Anyway, have an awesome night everybody!
