My opinion on every Darlington throwback: 2021 edition

00- Quin Houff: This is a fantastic throwback, it matches the original (mostly).

Final Score: 9/10

3- Austin Dillon: It's not often that you see a Fireball Roberts throwback.

Final Score: 10/10

4- Kevin Harvick: Jesus H. Christ Harvick is old.

Final Score: 10/10

5- Kyle Larson: Isn't he a little young to be throwing back to himself? Yes, yes he is.

Final Score: 5/10

6- Ryan Newman: This looks like a regular scheme.

Final Score: 4/10

7- Corey Lajoie: They even got the sponsor!

Final Score: 10/10

8- Tyler Reddick: I like the Marty Robbins colors.

Final Score: 10/10

9- Chase Elliott: Meh, the Underbird is a bit overdone at this point.

Final Score: 6/10

10- Aric Almirola: I like seeing flames on a racecar.

Final Score: 9/10

11- Denny Hamlin: Rigging the fan vote automatically docks 3 points. Sorry, I don't make the rules.

Final Score: 5/10

12- Ryan Blaney: See my comment on Larson's scheme.

Final Score: 6/10

14- Chase Briscoe: It took the SHR 14 team this long to do an A.J. Foyt throwback?

Final Score: 10/10

15- James Davison: Aussie aussie aussie! Oi oi oi!

Final Score: 8/10

18- Kyle Busch: No.

Final Score: 3/10

19- Martin Truex Jr.: I can't forgive the fact that the secondary color is wrong.

Final Score: 4/10

22- Joey Logano: This is solid, I like Mario Andretti throwbacks.

Final Score: 9/10

23- Bubba Wallace: Not a surprising pick, but the lack of a surprise isn't a bad thing.

Final Score: 7/10

24- William Byron: Like I said about the Fireball car, we don't get a lot of Neil Bonnett throwbacks.

Final Score: 9/10

34- Michael McDowell: A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.

Final Score: 9/10

37- Ryan Preece: A bit of a random pick, but ok.

Final Score: 7/10

38- Anthony "Fast Pasta" Alfredo: 2021 is clearly the Alan Kulwicki year.

Final Score: 8/10

41- Cole Custer: Not a throwback, but this will be my happy mother's day wish to all the moms out there. And also WHY ARE WE RACING ON MOTHER'S DAY? NO OTHER SPORT IS DOING THIS! WE'VE NEVER DONE THIS! WHY?

Paint Scheme Final Score: 10/10, Race Date Final Score: negative infinity.

42- Ross Chastain: The original scheme had a random-ass square around the M on the hood, the throwback doesn't. And that fact disappoints me.

Final Score: 9/10

43- Erik Jones: YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! Finally a 43 throwback that isn't to a Petty!
Final Score: 10/10

47- Ricky Stenhouse Jr: They had the balls to call this a throwback? What a f*cking joke! They didn't even put effort into it!
Final Score: 0/10

48- Alex Bowman: I like it. It's nice to see a driver throwback to their crew chief's driving career.
Final Score: 10/10

51- Cody Ware: MIKEY!
Final Score: 7/10

52- Josh Bilicki: As I said in the 2019 throwback review, we don't get a lot of Lennie Pond throwbacks.
Final Score: 9/10

77- Justin Haley: Another pleasant surprise with this Robert Pressley throwback.
Final Score: 10/10
78- B.J. McLeod: About damn time we got a Joe Weatherly throwback, he's a two-time champion. He deserves more respect!
Final Score: 10/10

99- Daniel Suarez: Just as I thought we wouldn't get an old logo "throwback". It's colorful though, so I'll give it some credit.
Final Score: 8/10

Well that's it. Happy Mother's Day. Hopefully I'll start posting more often, but don't get your hopes up.

Putting the "Stock" Back in Stock Car Racing

So NASCAR released it's Next Gen car a bit ago, and I must say... I love it! More so the Camaro and Mustang, because the Camry did not change. The Camaro and Mustang look like actual muscle cars, and the x shaped exhaust proved to sound great during testing. They are clearly closer to stock cars than the Gen 6, which just seems to be a different body for the Car of Tomorrow. I like the single lug nut, because that means the lug nut penalty will go the way of the dodo bird. They'll make their debut in the Pro Invitational tonight at Darlington, which should be interesting. My return to this blog will continue later this week with the yearly throwback ratings, so stay tuned.

Don't Take it Seriously

So Tuesday night, I was scrolling through Twitter, just to see what's going on, when I stumble upon a tweet from YouTuber Black Flags Matter, the tweet is simply 4 pictures of Martin Truex Jr, and I think nothing of it. I think of it as a simple appreciation tweet. But then I see another tweet saying Truex is retiring a la Carl Edwards. And I think "Where in the hell did that rumor come from?" And I tweet asking where the hell the rumor came from, and lo and behold, some random in the comments of a Jim Utter tweet said it. And people ran with it! Did you people learn nothing from the Homestead Miami Speedway rumor in March of last year? Don't just assume that a rumor is true just because some asshole on Twitter said it with no sources! I seriously can't believe that anyone would be stupid enough to believe some random guy commenting on a Jim Utter tweet. It's like my parents always say: People are stupid. Well, that was the rant, 2021 season predictions will be up in a few weeks. See you then.
